Ayodeji Awosika You beat me to it! Honestly, I’ve had this exact article subject on my mind for at least one month now. You wrote it better than I could have. I really liked this. What’s funny is that I did write a series last year on The Mission called, The Formula that Leads to Wild Success. It’s something I believed in very deeply. I did choose to profile Steve Jobs and Elon Musk, as two of my 10 people, not for clickbait reasons, but because I felt their personal stories were valuable ones to share.
I go back and forth on this all the time. The fact is, some of the most read and recommended articles I’ve ever written have not had clickbait headlines at all. Some of them have. Like you, I personally choose for my writing to not have too many listicle titles or “The Best, Most Explosive Hack…” You get the point. But it’s simply undeniable that we increase our exposure with better marketing. And part of marketing is the headline. It’s a catch 22.
I feel like we see things very similarly. I appreciate your perspective on this.
